PREP & LANDING
Release date: November 22, 2011
Disney’s contribution to the list of favorite holiday television specials is 2009’s “Prep and Landing,” now on DVD!
While most holiday television special stories focus on Santa, the reindeer, or even families and children, this one focuses on the elves. We all know how Santa delivers presents, but what a lot of us are unaware of is that the elves journey to the homes of children, prepping the surroundings to make Santa’s job easier.
When one elf, Wayne, is overlooked for a promotion after 227 years of service, he
becomes disillusioned and bitter. And since it was his partner who was promoted, Wayne finds himself now working with an eager new partner, Lanny. With a lack of enthusiasm, Wayne is happy to kick back and take it easy while he lets Lanny do all the work. This, of course, leads to near Christmas Eve disaster.
Since “Prep and Landing” has a runtime of just 22 minutes, Disney has filled this disc with a few stocking stuffers in the way of BONUS FEATURES:
OPERATION SECRET SANTA (6:53) tells of Mrs. Claus sending the elves a secret mission. Brilliantly voicing Santa’s better half is Betty White. Even her name sounds perfect for the role. (Get it? White Christmas?) To complete their task, the elves find themselves in Santa’s secret room, while trying to avoid waking their jolly boss.
TINY’S BIG ADVENTURE (1:09) is also a tiny featurette, at just barely over a minute, but long enough to bring a chuckle, as you follow the tiny adventure of the elf, so tiny that we only see the tip of his hat.
KRINGLE ACADEMY – There are three sections in what is intended to appear as training videos, utilizing stylized simple animation and narration. Ready to join the academy? First you’ll need to watch
Welcome to Kringle Academy(1:27)
Equipment Training (1:27)
Dos and Don’ts (1:33)
NORTH POLE NEWS (1:28) is a little piece in the style of an old black and white newsreel.
Rounding up the bonus features are three short parodies of NORTH POLE COMMERCIALS
Hope this helps you know what’s on the “Prep and Landing” DVD. Thanks for taking the time to read this before you dash away, dash away, dash away all!
