Winnie the Pooh Blu-ray The new 2011 “Winnie the Pooh” movie is now on Blooh-ray!

Back in 1966, Winnie the Pooh made his theatrical debut in the Disney featurette, “Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.” That was followed by another two featurettes, a theatrical compilation of all three, and countless television shows and DVDs. The 2011 film “Winnie the Pooh,” however marks the first full-length theatrical release of a Disney “Winnie the Pooh,” movie, albeit “full-length” is an actuality just over an hour.

It’s evident that this nooh film took great strides to stay trooh to the original. In fact, in my opinion, this is the best that Pooh Bear and his pals have ever looked. The story and songs, as one would expect, stay simple and charming without straying from the feel of the original featurettes, and they get particularly creative with the "text" of the book.

Included as BONUS FEATURES are SING ALONG WITH THE MOVIE, and DISNEY SONG SELECTION along with the following:

WINNIE THE POOH AND HIS STORY, TOO (8:33) –This fascinating piece traces Pooh’s roots back to his humble beginnings. With more in-depth bonus features on previous Pooh-related DVDs, this was a nicely put together with some new information.

There are several DELETED SCENES INTRODUCED BY THE DIRECTORS in various stages of animation, and it includes an extended song.

MINI ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH: POOH’S BALLOON (2:47) is not new, but a clip from the original featurette. The voices have been recorded and there’s a new intro and ending to it, but it’s the “Little Black Raincloud” scene from “Honey Tree.”

CREATE THE PERFECT WINNIE THE POOH NURSERY (2:52) is two ladies who bill themselves as “The Baby Planners” and offer suggestions for a Pooh-themed nursery.

Lastly, there’s a brand new animated short, THE BALLAD OF NESSIE (5:32). I loved seeing a brand new traditionally animated short, and it’s all original, not based on Pooh or any other previous characters. This sweet tale tells of a friendly serpent who lives in a pond with her adorable rubber duck, and her woes in dealing with a mean, rich titan. Hope we get to see more original shorts like this in the future!
