DISNEYNATURE: AFRICAN CATS
Release date: October 4, 2011
Blu-ray version (some materials may not appear on the DVD version)

African Cats The latest CATegory in the series of Disneynature films is “African Cats.” Like its predecessors, this film is a beautiful documentary which lends its stunning visuals perfectly to Blu-ray. Even if you saw this film in the theater, I just can’t stress how spectacular it is in high definition.

Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, this wildly exciting film visits the African savanna, and follows the lives of two real cat families, lions and cheetahs, and in the true tradition of Disney nature films, tells their story in a way that helps us to look at them as more than simply animals, but as intelligent personalities with real emotions.

DISNEY & NATURE (3:38) When one thinks of Disney, usually the first thing that comes to mind are the theme parks or the films, television shows or other entertainment. However, Disney is committed to helping to protect the environment. This short piece offers a small glimpse at just some of the ways that Disney contributes to helping our environment and the planet we share.

SAVE THE SAVANNA (4:42) briefly tells about the inspiration for the film, some of the issues that are endangering African wildlife, and how “African Cats” can not only educate, but how it will help to save the savanna.

PLAY MOVIE WITH FILMMAKER ANNOTATIONS lets you view “African Cats” with video commentary, not just audio, by filmmakers and animal experts, along with behind-the-scenes footage and onscreen trivia. This is also an interactive experience in which you may leave the film itself and view behind-the-scenes-footage and featurettes.
