VICTORIOUS SEASON 1, VOLUME 1
from Nickelodeon
Release date: July 5, 2011
The television series “Victorious” is seen on Nick, and is geared towards teens and tweens. With a talented cast of crazy characters and chaotic situations at Hollywood Arts High School, the show really is entertaining for the whole family.
16 year old Tori Vega (Victoria Justice) is starting at a new high school; but not just any school. This is Hollywood Arts, a performing arts school where talented students learn how to become real artists. Until now, Tori didn't think she had much talent of her own, and was content to live in the shadow of her older sister, Trina. Now, that's all about to change... if Tori can see herself in a new light, even a spotlight! But Hollywood Arts is still a high school, and Tori is still the new kid. She'll have to find new friends, do homework, and just try to fit in. Will Tori grab a starring role in her new life?
This two disc DVD set features ten of the 20 episodes from the first season (not the first ten), right from Tori’s first day of school, including an extended version of the pilot episode.
Here’s just a few of the zany storylines you can expect in these episodes: Despite Tori’s very best efforts to do the “bird scene” over and over, each time more dramatic and elaborate, her wacky teacher Sikowitz is just not impressed; The not-all-there Cat, uses Tori for her make-up class, but accidentally super glues a mask to her face ; Tori’s sister Trina puts on the torturous one-woman production, and must threaten her friend to get a good review. Robbie, who is rarely seen without his ventiloquist’s dummy Rex, endures pain when the puppet passes away in the hospital.
Although wild and sometimes slapstick, it’s intelligently written and fun to watch.
Interestingly, although the program here is presented in 16:9 it is in a full screen format, so you’ll have black bars above and below the picture.
BONUS FEATURES:
MEET TORI VEGA (:34)
Victoria Justice takes a half a minute to offer her description of her character in this Nick commercial.
MEET THE CAST (:46)
This second commercial takes a quick few seconds (literally) to learn a little bit about the show from the show’s stars.
MUSIC VIDEOS
The music video FREAK THE FREAK OUT is often seen on Nick, and was featured in the episode of the same name, although I guess we’ll need to wait for another DVD volume for that episode.
The second video, BEGGIN’ ON YOUR KNEES, will also be familiar with to Nick fans, and while the episode that featured the song is not included in this volume, it’s fun to have both music videos.
So that's the sTORI of what's on the VicTORIous DVD.
