HAVE A LAUGH, volumes 3 & 4
Release date: June 14, 2011

Have a LaughThere’s something funny going on with Disney’s DVDs! “Have a Laugh” volumes 3 and 4 have been released, where old meets new, bringing laughs for the whole family.

For some time now, Disney Channel has been airing “short versions” of classic Disney cartoons. These shortened versions have new 5.1 audio. All the music and character voices have been re-recorded.

I’m not opposed to Disney’s editing these because I assume they don’t have time to air the full versions, and it’s introducing millions of kids, my own included, to some of the great Disney shorts of the past.

For both Disney purists and those of us who fondly remember the originals, the edited versions might leave us wishing to see the original unedited versions. Each of these volumes of “Have a Laugh” not only includes five of those versions from the Disney Channel, but the full-length original versions with the original soundtracks, and uncut the extra minutes of merriment.

Disney Blam! Each DVD includes a few other Disney Channel goodies including three BLAM!’S. These one and a half minute pieces are extremely reminiscent of the ABC television show “Wipeout,” although I’m not sure that these are intentional parodies. While viewing the action, vintage Disney cartoon footage in these cases, the narrator brings new humor to the onscreen situations, including those moments when all goes amuck for a poor Disney character… and BLAM!

Finally, each DVD features one RE-MICKS. Classic Disney cartoon footage set to a popular song. A couple decades ago on the Disney Channel, this same concept was called DTV.

Hope this helps you have a clue what’s on the “Have a Laugh” DVDs.
