SHARPAY'S FABULOUS ADVENTURE
Release date: April 19, 2011
Blu-ray version (some materials may not appear on the DVD version)

It’s been five years since Sharpay Evans and the Eastside Wildcats took the world by storm in the Disney Channel smash hit movie, “High School Musical.” The success of the record-breaking sequel led to a third installment in 2008, this time released theatrically.

While “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure” (now on Blu-ray and DVD) is technically a sequel, it takes a new twist. Not centered around high school and with none of her East High classmates to be found, this new film follows the high school graduate on a new adventure of her own as she travels to New York with the hopes of becoming a Broadway actress.

While Sharpay was a colorful character and an essential part of the original films, she was certainly not the most likable character. After all, audiences were rooting AGAINST her. But in “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” as in real life, Sharpay has grown up a bit. The character is softened up and vulnerable to the point that audiences will certainly be on her side.

The story tells of a talent agent spotting Sharpay performing with her dog, Boi, at a charity gala, She sets off for the bright lights of NYC, convinced instant fame and fortune are in the bag (designer, that is). But the theatre is a dog-eat-dog world, as she and Boi discover when they encounter the devious owner of a pampered Pooch named “Countess” and a scheming Broadway starlet who will do anything to crush the competition. Fortunately, Sharpay also meets Peyton (Austin Butler), a handsome student filmmaker who finds her nearly as fascinating as she finds herself.

BONUS FEATUERS:

THE EVOLUTION OF SHARPAY (8:57) features Ashley Tisdale, discussing the progression of her character from the first “High School Musical” to the newest film. Clips from the first three films are edited in appropriately.

I’m always complaining that BLOOPERS (1:22) on DVDs are so quick and set to music that it’s sometimes hard to tell what the blooper is, but despite the fact that there’s only 82 seconds of outtakes, I’m much more impressed with this set of bloopers, focusing more on the clips than how they’re presented. They’re sure to get you chuckling.

AUSTIN CAM (7:00) - When the character Peyton Leverett is video recording Sharpay’s adventure for the storyline, the camera was not just a prop. Actor Austin Butler was actually recording elements for the movie. But Austin didn’t just stop with scenes for the film and it’s really fun to get a candid glimpse behind-the-scenes.

So that’s what you’ll find on the “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure” DVD. Hope you found this information fabulous!
