SANTA BUDDIES
DVD release date: November 24, 2009
Blu-ray version (some materials may not
appear on the DVD version)
Here comes Santa Buddies, here comes Santa Buddies, right to DVD. Move aside Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, etc., because Budderball, Buddah, Rosebud, B-Dawg and Mudbud are the stars this Christmas.
After the success of the Air Bud movies, the puppies debuted in Air Buddies. Snow Buddies and Space Buddies. In fact, SNOW BUDDIES remains the best-selling live-action Direct-to-DVD of all time.
The Buddies films follow an age old Disney tradition of providing great entertainment for the whole family. They’re safe for kids of any age to watch, and they enjoyable enough for us parents to enjoy with them.
This newest edition introduces, Puppy Paws, the fun-loving son of Santa Paws, who gets tired of the North Pole, checks out Santa’s “naughty” list and finds Budderball’s name right on top, and heads out to meet the Buddies and find out how “ordinary” pups spend their days.
Santa Buddies holds up well to the previous Buddies films, and there’s a wonderful feeling of Christmas throughout the film. There’s no lack of snowy scenery and decorated homes. There’s the North Pole, Santa’s Workshop, reindeer and elves. All that with the adorable puppies is certainly enough to make your spirits bright.
Two of the voice talents for Santa Buddies also happen to be Mouse Clubhouse interviewees. I’ve interviewed both
Tim Conway and
Josh Flitter
for you. To those of us over 30, Disney Legend Tim Conway who voices
Puppy Paws is known as the zany Ensign Parker on McHale’s Navy, the wonderful comic from The Carol Burnett Show and a handful of Disney film such as The Apple Dumpling Gang and The Shaggy D.A. The younger generation will recognize his voice as Barnacle Boy from Spongebob Squarepants.
If you’re a TV fan, you’ll enjoy hearing and seeing other TV superstars such as Richard Kind of Spin City, Happy Days patriarch Tom Bosley, Christopher Lloyd who was Taxi’s Jim Ignatowski, perhaps even better known as Emmett Brown in the Back to Future trilogy, and taking the role of Santa Claus, George Wendt, best known as Norm on Cheers.
The BONUS FEATURES include a MUSIC VIDEO of “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” performed by Steve Rushton and several SING-ALONG SLONGS… just follow the bouncing paw!
That’s the latest about Santa Buddies. It’s a cute tail that's worth a
moment to take paws and see!
