DHATCHING PETE/DADNAPPED
DVD release date: May 12, 2009
With Dadnapped and Hatching Pete, you get two, two, two DVDs in one. When you put the DVD in your player you get to choose which movie you want. You are then brought to a menu for that movie with scene selection bonus features, etc. Very cool idea.
What these two movies have in common are they are both fun, a little silly, and good ol’ fashioned clean family fun movies. They both all feature various Disney Channel stars including Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, Jason Dolley, Phill Lewis, David Henrie,
Jason Earles and Moises Arias.
In Hatching Pete, when Cleatis chickens out of being the school’s mascot when he realizes he’s allergic to the costume, so unbeknownst to the school’s sports fans, his fine feathered friend Pete fills in for him, becoming a huge hit, but causing some havoc along the way.
In Dadnapped , yearning to spend some meaningful time with her author father, Melissa feels pushed aside when one of her dad’s fictional character’s, Tripp Zoome seems to be more important than her. What ensues is the kind of stuff novels are made of.
Each movie has its own BONUS FEATURES:
In Hatching Pete, it’s UNMASKING THE MASCOT. Musso and Dolley are interviewed for this featurette in regards to everything mascot related. There’s even an interview with the person who performs the Utah Jazz Bear… someone. Yeah, he’s anonymous in this. You see his silhouette and learn that this funny business is serious stuff. There’s also some interesting, stirring footage of how the chicken mascot was created.
Back to the menu and switching over to Dadnapped are two bonus features.
The EXTENDED ENDING is a two minute long scene intended to be end the film.
Lastly there’s TRIPP ZOOME: OFF THE RAILS: AN ANIMATED GRAPHIC NOVEL . This eight minute piece is not so much a novel as a cleverly animated comic book, complete with comic strip panels, comic captions and comic capers.
So pop some popcorn, gather up some candy and a pack of Doublemint gum and enjoy the double feature!
