HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL DVD GAME
DVD release date: November 18, 2008

High School Musical DVD gameThe High School Musical DVD Game is actually eleven games that you can play alone or with friends.

You’ll be guided through instructions and games with the friendly voice of KayCee Stroh who played Martha Cox in all three “High School Musical” films. (See her interviews in our interview section.)

After you select how many players you have, you then select which High School Musical character you would like to be in the game.

You will then be presented with the games you can play based on if you selected single or multiple players.

The Main Game is a trivia challenge for one or more players. You’ll be presented with 20 questions consisting of anything from identifying the person who said a line from the films to watching a clip from the first two films and then answering a question about something in the clip. This game is reminiscent of the popular Scene It games on the market.

Prom Night is not really a game but teaches you a dance routine. There are eight tunes from the first two HSM films that you may choose, based on the level you choose: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. With the help of onscreen diagrams of where your feet belong and a dancer silhouette you will learn, in four sections, the various moves of a dance routine until you’ve learned the whole routine.

The Yearbook Memory Game shows you nine images of characters for a few seconds and you must try to remember their placement. As you are shown a character you must choose which position that character was in. You get three tries in single player mode but if you are playing against others you are out if you mess up one time.

Pep Rally is for two or more players. Clapping along in time with the onscreen audience you are given various categories and you must say words associated with that category without missing a beat. For example, “Things people do at a graduation ceremony.”

Center Stage is just a sing-along from the point of view of being on stage singing into a microphone as the lyrics appear karaoke style. You get to choose from a handful of songs from the first two HSM films.

In Wildcats Try Outs you have to try to shoot hoops by watching a power bar and an arrow to aim and shooting at just the right time. You can also choose how far you want to stand from the basket. Longer shots are worth more points but more difficult to make.

The Career Finder Quiz is a novelty that offers you four quizzes where you answer various questions. The questions are loosely based on High School Musical characters such as, “Troy has a basketball court in his backyard. What would you like to have in yours?” You may then select from multiple choice answers such as “a studio,” or a “a barbecue pit.” When completed, you’ll find out what career the game thinks you would be best suited for.

BFF’s is fun to play with your friends. It’s kind of a teen “Newlywed Game.” One person hides their eyes. Then one person answers questions the way they think their friend will respond when they open their eyes.

The last option is Party Play which offers three more games which you can choose separately or a combination of all three.

Drama Class is a play on the classic game Charades. Here you are given an action that you must act out while others try to guess.

Art Class
is basically the equivalent of the popular Pictionary game where you will be given a word and then you must draw it while others on your team try to guess what you’re drawing.

Vocab Test is the equivalent of the popular Taboo game. You are given a word to describe but you are also given a few words that you may not say. The others try to guess the word you are describing.

So don’t wait for the bell to ring, head on back to class and start playing!
