MINUTEMEN
DVD release date: May 27, 2008

Minutemen DVDNow that "Minutemen" is on DVD, you can rewind and live it over and over and over again.

While this Disney Channel original movie didn’t spark a phenomenon like “High School Musical,” it’s certainly a great family movie in its own respect. I’m so glad Disney is back to doing decent family movies, and I certainly enjoy them as much as the kids. Okay, I don’t have Jason Dolley’s poster up on my bedroom wall, but I do like the movie.

Minutemen DVdHere’s something that it took me awhile to figure out. I wondered when the “minutemen” go back in time, why don’t they just stay there, but the deal is this: Their other selves are still there. If they stay there, there would be two of them! That really isn’t pointed out until near the end when you see Charley riding on around his little rocket vehicle and yet he is also dressed as a minuteman. I think it would have been interesting to add a little element of them seeing themselves early on. That’s my opinion, but I still like the movie.

What about BONUS FEATURES? While there’s not an overabundance of bonus features, what’s here is certainly interesting.

Minutemen - Corbin BleuA MUSIC VIDEO featuring the entirely likable Corbin Bleu singing “Run It Back Again.” This is a fun video and is appropriately themed to running back time a few seconds. The obligatory clips from the movie are in here, but with some nice original clips of Corbin going back in time as well as recording the song.

THE MAKING OF MINUTEMEN: A TRIP BACK IN TIME is a  nine and a half minute featurette broken up into various segments. Each segment runs about a minute. Hmm, I guess that’s appropriate for something called “Minutemen.” It’s not as informative as I always hope for, but it’s certainly better than nothing. Wish they’d go back in time and just add a little more behind the scenes footage, though.

A Trip Back in Time is broken up into the following little segments:

Minutemen DVDStunts – Get to see some great rehearsal and behind the scenes looks at some of the stunts involved.

Visual Effects – This is really more about how they did the vortex, which, by the way, is interesting. I would have liked to have seen them dive into this a little more, but it’s still fun to see.

Directing Minutemen – You get to see the action of Director Lev L. Spiro working with the cast and some various rehearsal and behind the scenes footage.

The Snowsuit Guys – This is about the suits and just some recollections of working in the suits.

Hello Kitty – It’s Tennessee the cat’s turn for some recognition. See the cat’s stand in, a little bit of some special effects, and even see Tennessee in makeup. YES! The cat had to go thru makeup!

Minutemen DVDKiss and Tell – Some discussion about when Luke Benward and Kara Crane kissed in the show… the memories, the teasing, the bruises…

If I Had a Real Time Machine – Here the cast and crew talk about what they would do if they had a REAL time machine. I wonder if they would rewind and watch the movie again.
